“A year ago, my husband and I decided we wanted to buy a house in Lexington, Virginia. We currently live in California. Over the course of a couple months, we spoke with multiple realtors. Most likely because the property we were looking for was not a large scale purchase, we received minimal help from the realtors we spoke with. Sadly, some that we reached out to, didn’t even call us back.

After a few months, A friend referred us to a realty company and we were paired with Laurie Gist. My Initial interaction with Laurie was over the phone. After that, Laurie created a portal for us with updated properties that met the parameters of what we were looking for.

I spoke with her multiple times, about potential properties. Laurie‘s follow-through was outstanding. Most times, within just a couple hours, she would have either gathered information from the listing realtor, provided feedback from other people in her office, or even personally driven by the property to gather information. When the information on the property wasn’t positive, she did not think twice about sharing it. This was important to us, as we were expecting to go into a real estate transaction on a property that we had not seen in person.

On one of our trips to Lexington, I was finally able to meet Laurie in person. She drove me around various neighborhoods. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable about the areas and forthcoming with the pros and cons of each of the areas.

Finally, in July, a property was listed that met the specifications my husband and I were looking for. My husband and I were unable to come out to see the property in person, prior to making an offer. Laurie did a video tour for us. Ultimately, We made an offer with her help, and now own the property.

During escrow, multiple repairs were identified during the inspections. Laurie diligently sought information on the extent of the repairs and prices associated with them. She helped to arrange contractors and repairman. And as we neared the end of escrow, and furniture began arriving (a couple days prior to our arrival in Lexington) she even went the extra mile and helped secure the packages at the house.

All paperwork required for this transaction was completed seamlessly. Laurie proactively addressed verbiage in the contracts to assure that we were not putting ourselves at risk in certain areas, while also thinking outside of the box for negotiations. She worked well with all necessary, partners, and insured that even though we were signing documents remotely, we understood everything in the contracts.

This home purchase was the fifth home purchase, (collectively) between my husband and I, and eighth real estate transaction (collectively). Hands down, Laurie Gist was the best real estate agent we have ever worked with. Her kindness, knowledge, and work ethic, are far above the rest. Also, through this process, we found that she’s truly an outstanding human being.

I have already referred people to her, and will continue referring people to her. I hope to use her on additional real estate transactions in the future.”
